Seriously, this is a mess right now. We need rules in here. (this has  been suggested before to various extents, but it seems like a good time to mention it again)

So the rules need to cover the “short version” (title) and the full description, as well as ensure we don’t get things that are incomprehensible or nonsuggestions cluttering up the box.

The “short version” should be a full sentence or logical phrase. ie not “spirits” but “Spirits with elemental powers” or “Spirits should have elemental powers” should be used. This allows people to decide whether they want to take the time to read the full description, and allows them to vote without reading the whole thing if they don’t want to.

The full description should NOT be the same as the “short version.” Say why or how your suggestion should be carried out, or at least describe in greater detail. The example used above should at least have something about how this would be integrated into the site (battledome, weekly stories, home) or which spirits they think should have which powers. This helps voters decide whether they actually like this idea or not. After all, someone might be in favor of a similar idea (that looks the same from the title) but not yours, or vice versa.

Next to the yes or no vote, there would need to be a “flag for inspection” box so users could alert admins to any problems. This would cover things like “title- houses description-houses” as well as things already on the site (outdated), suggestions that have been posted before, or suggestions that are really spam, questions, or ads. Then admins would review and (possibly) delete the suggestion.

Anyway, I decided to put this in today because I used to frequent the suggestion box, checking in every couple of days to cast votes…and then I stopped when suggestions like something titles money and described “more ways to earn money” showed up. Especially when things like this showed up. *shudder* So I had stopped going…then today I popped in for no apparent reason and *shudder* every suggestion (well, 90%) that I hadn’t seen before was like that. Insufficient information or no opinion! I realize that most people haven’t even thought about the suggestion box in a long time (I hadn’t) or maybe at all, but it does need to be cleaned up. Plus I thought MTT needed another post :P
