Pulse

Aside from a landslide of coconuts, there has been a fair bit of news this week!  Other than poor Club going back to school, a new shop has popped up in Wootropolis with another in the works and certain areas of the site recieving some pretty handy upgrades!  Read on!

The Home Repository is the newest addition to the chic line of shops in Wootropolis.  It (obviously) stocks furniture, walls and floors for our Tiki Homes.  About time!  We also have pretty firm reason to believe that a Sushi shop will be gracing the site sometime in the near future.  Volte6 has put a call out in the Community Assistance forum for all artists to create sushi platter items.  Club has also discovered some new species of fish, likely related to the sushi shop!

The individual game pages have recieved an upgrade – they now show how the game will affect your meter, an improved point/TT ratio as well as the plays today and the average TT per play.

This week fryolla was welcomed as the newest site moderator.  There was an important promotion here on MTT as well – Emmy has joined us and will be imparting wisdom and fixing mistakes with the best of us before long!

And now for the parade of coconuts released this week.  Check our handy Coconut Guide for their solutions!

A new option is available for your home – the sale hut!  It is now possible to combine a fence, hut and different style of land on one plot.  Previously you could only have one or the other.

Also, remember to wish TIKIMAESTRO a Happy Birthday! :)

Other than that, not much to report in site news!  In case you missed Tictac’s announcement, a new feature on MTT was released yesterday: The Portal! Use it to keep track of your MrTiki dailies, news and other fun stuff! :D

I’m hoping the quality and length of this post makes up for the fact that its a little late! :D Its been a hectic few days…I bought a new camera and a bedspread for my dorm room. Woo!

Early this week users recieved a warning about a planned TT reset.  The original intent was to reduce all bank accounts to 1mil, and would not affect anyone who already had under 1,000,000 TT.  However, there were complications and Volte ended up resetting everyone to 1mil, whether they had earned it originally or not.  Users with between 1mil and 10mil recieved 1TPC in return, and users above 10mil received 2TPC.

The N.E.W.T. stock market is out of commission for an unknown amount of time.  It was closed at the same time as the TT reset – previously, users had been able to exploit the stock market for millions of TT.

East Tiki Village

East Tiki Village

The much anticipated Tiki Homes system is finished and open for business!  Real estate is only available in Tiki Village (either North or East Tiki Village) by clicking on the little groups of huts.

Users can buy land varying in price from 50,000TT to 100,000TT.  For each plot of land you own, you pay 1,500TT in taxes each Monday.  There was a bit of a hiccup this Monday when a number of properties were repossessed, because people did not have enough TT on hand!  If a home is repossessed, all of the items within it will be lost as well.  If you buy your home back again, you will find your items exactly as you left them.

There are a number of different options when customizing the outside look of your home.  Through the ‘Buy Land’ tab you can choose between a flower, grass, or dirt landscape; ‘Buy Units’ allows you to choose the size and appearance of your home; and ‘Buy Walls’ gives you the option of adding fencing to your property.  Each upgrade costs a certain amount of money, that is not returned to you if you change your mind.

A new shop that sells home decor such as walls, flooring and furniture is expected sometime in the near future.  For now, walls are only available through auctions or shops.  You’ll have to make do without tables and chairs, unless you can build them from other things!

A few resourceful people have designed some pretty cool homes.  Check out this clever message from Roy!

Tiki Homes are well on their way to completion!  The admins moved a couple of links around this weekend, so if you’re looking for the preview, click here.  You’ll notice that a scratchy border has been added around the edge of the screen, and new music is playing in the background.  Am I the only one that is reminded of the fishing music?

It won’t be long before you can buy a plot of land (the price differs depending on the location).  If you click on any empty spot, you will be taken to a page stating the price and the taxes you will be expected to pay on the property.  However, when you ‘Agree’ to the contract you are taken to a page saying you are not authorized for this action.  It seems as if not much else can be done with the inside of your hut, but Volte6, WeeOne, Wee and Tikimaestro have already purchased their homes!

That’s all for this week!  If you’re still working towards your first ever TPC, you may want to check out Argeth’s tips for winning Spirit Races.  Have a good week everyone :)

Guess what!  This here Tiki Pulse is the 500th post on MTT.  WOW! Already? WOW!

PhonographI’m sad to say that I won’t be reporting the release of kick-butt Tiki Homes.  But there have been a few visible changes!  A phonograph has appeared and there is a rather jaunty tune playing in the background.  This music can be turned off.  There are also skulls hanging on the wall and big ‘W’ on the floor made of bones.  Not sure what that is about! :P

The Foggy Coast is nigh! According to Zerza, (who heard it straight from sputnic herself) the Foggy Coast art is completely finished, and all we’re waiting for is the programming :) Enemy Totem

We also found out that the image that was discovered (to your right) is actually a totem of an enemy spirit.  If you’re a fierce battler you’ll be sure to see this guy before long!

That’s all for this week :) Here’s hoping all you Americans had an exciting July the 4th, and a happy Canada day to everyone up north!

After a long hiatus, the Tiki Pulse is back and on a new day!  Thanks to your votes (which thankfully coincided with my convenience) the Tiki Pulse will be released every Sunday night!

Although we don’t know the exact date, MrTiki hit the 3,000 member milestone sometime this week.  Keep Under Construction!up the referring guys!

We all know that huts have been in the works, and now we have some hard proof!  You can try the huts system out here, and if you have anything to say, post it here!

In auctions this week, Daburro is selling a very rare Dry Branch.  A good addition to any user’s collection, and you never know, it may be the one thing Fish Eye desires ;)  If you’re interested, click here!

Mellodieh also hit a 3k milestone this week – 3,000 plays of Wooprentice!  Good grief, I don’t think I’ve even played 30.. She also celebrated her birthday on the 28th :)  Drop her a belated birthday mail, or post here!  If you want your birthday advertised on the Tiki Pulse, please mail me!

Thats all for this week folks.  Here’s hoping next week I’ll be reporting on huts! *crosses fingers*

Hi guys! The Tiki Pulse is officially back on track :)   I vow not to miss ONE MORE Tiki Pulse as long as I am physically capable of writing them :)

But there is one teensy tinsy problem.  My hours on Fridays have been extended, making it more difficult for me to release it on Friday.  So let me know what you prefer:

  1. Release it late Friday night. (Written on Thursday, covers Friday-Wednesday)
  2. Release Thursday.  (Written on Thursday, covers Friday-Wednesday)
  3. Release Sunday.  (Written on Sunday, covers Monday-Saturday)
  4. Release Monday night.  (Written Sunday/Monday, covers Monday of previous week-Sunday)

Thanks for your input!

Its been such a long time since I’ve had something to report, that I almost forgot to write this week’s Tiki Pulse!

The number one thing that was keeping users busy this week was the introduction to the release of the Foggy Coast.  Two new quests were introduced, as well as a hidden area in the Valley of Secrets.  After cracking the code to enter the underground world of the Valley of Secrets, users had to navigate the neverending and very confusing tunnels.  The two destinations are the Underground Library (mentioned in ‘The Burrows’ and ‘Excavations‘) and Fish Eye’s dock.  Want to talk over your discoveries with other players?  Click here!

A number of new items were released with this update, including 2 new fish.  Yep, thats right! You can fish at Fish Eye’s dock!  There is also a skull hidden in this location, as well as old bones catchable in the waters.

Non site-related ads popped up today, to the chagrin of this reporter.  Although they’re a bit of an eyesore, we have to keep in mind that its for the good of the site!

For the third week in a row, I have no news to report. Sorry folks!

Oh, come on Miraye! Put some effort into it!

Effort is for chumps. Especially when none is required!

Well, thats all for this week! Hope you enjoyed the Pulse :)

…Whats that you say? There wasn’t actually a Tiki Pulse? Ahh! You’re right! No site news = no Tiki Pulse :(

CLUB: *whines about lack of news*

Well, its been a boring week on Tiki Island!  I have absolutely no official news to report.  Fooey!

There has been a bit of an uproar lately on the lack of help for new users, and their creation of repeat topics and inappropriate suggestions.  At my request, the ‘Tonga’ help guide has been made a sticky on the Game Talk, Tips and Tricks board.  The hope is that users will see this guide and refrain from creating new boards!

You might have noticed that the Silly Spirit Races aren’t quite as abundant as they were.  Volte has told us that he reduced the frequency of them, to make it more rare and exciting :)

Other than that, I’ve got nothing to say!  Hope you had a good week, folks :)

The staff have shown their ingenuity and creativity once again! The Silly Spirit Races were anticipated early this week when users saw Volte and then Tikimaestro take the high score hero spot in the alerts. It wasn’t long before a very rough version of the game was released. The Silly Spirit Race isn’t like other games, and is only available to play during site events. You will know a race has started when an alert appears at the top of the page, or if a small arena appears on the world map. (See left) The prize for winning one of the races is 1TPC. Yours truly was the winner of the first ever race =D

The Tiki music player recieved two new additions this week; the Silly Spirit Race theme, and the Tiki Falls theme. The beautiful Tiki Falls song gave us a hint as to what the newest world would be. We didn’t have to wait long until Tiki Falls was released. The Tiki Falls is also another fishing spot, with a variety of new fish to catch!

If the new music didn’t exactly make you jump for joy, you may be pleased to hear that there is now an option to turn off all of the music on the MrTiki maps. You can do this from your Account Settings page. This does not apply to game music yet.

There were a few small but important tweaks made this week. The main Tiki Island map looks a little bit different, with a new font on the pop-up signs. There is also a new sign for the Tiki Falls area. Volte mentioned in a Wooprentice chat that spirits will not lose their health as quickly as they did previously. This should help if you have troubles keeping up, and your spirit turns into a totem! Also, you may have noticed that your activity rank did some flip flops this week. These ranks were reset so that certain users can’t establish a monopoly on the top spots! They will reset on a regular basis in the future. :) Oh, and Club got a new random event! Well, it is mostly new. The mysterious merchant will now sometimes reduce his price by half, to 2,500 TT.

April Fool’s has come and gone, and naturally the Mr Tiki staff couldn’t pass up a chance to mess with us :P For the day our spirits held an uncanny likeness to our very special admins! To see all of the altered spirits, click here.

After losing the handy ‘Newest Items’ section of the Tiki Chronicle, it was a blow to learn that the ‘Top Bargains’ feature isn’t even accurate! Many of the shops appear to be used as a gallery, and have their items priced at 999,999,999TT. Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t consider that a bargain!

This week we saw the debut of Tikimaestro’s first game, called Ninja Target Practice. This game will increase your Woo allegiance as you’re playing as Ninja #2, and innocent Mozos are among the targets :(

Fishing is a sport of patience, determination and a profound respect for mother nature…and now, it is a game on MrTiki. The long-anticipated fishing activity was released this week, to overwhelming participation and user pleasure. In my memory this is the only feature that wasn’t met with complaints or suggestions! (Even Club had very little to say!) The Valley of Secrets recieved a few updates – the shop we expected to sell weapons is actually the Bait Shop, and the mysterious purple fish in the pond leads you to the fishing spot. So grab your pole and get fishing!

According to a reliable source, new users now recieve a welcome package when they join the site. As far as we know, it includes a brush, ball and comic. Another step in keeping the new members that join! How come I was not informed of this? *stares* Well, I know now. :( And who is this “reliable source” Miraye? I want to know! :P

Ever wished you could listen to the MrTiki music without sitting in Wootropolis for an hour? The admins are here for us as always. Volte unveiled the Mr Tiki Music page earlier this week. It plays all of the music we’ve come to love, as well as a few sneak peeks at what will be released in the future.

I would just like to take a quiet moment to mention that our dear friend Google has officially disappeared. He shall be missed.

If you’re a regular reader of the Pulse, you’re probably wondering why I haven’t got my lazy butt up to write it.  Well, I had a funeral to attend on Friday, and since then its been a whirlwind of family visits and now I’m beat.  Expect a double issue this Friday when I’ve regained some of my energy :)

March is nearly over! I wonder what April will hold for MrTiki?

Its no surprise that the new GoAK: Consequences books are being released in a landslide. So far, we have up until #6! Tictac has also discovered books 7-10 as well. If you’d like to see the covers, click here. Want to get your hands on one of them? They’ve been spotted in The Book Wyrm, and the auctions.

The Valley of Secrets has recieved an update. If you scroll to the right, you’ll now find Copernicus’s tree laboratory. A system of clues has also been added to the VoS map. For example, ‘A faint light catches your eyes between the trees’ acts as a hint towards the hidden location of the Mozo spirit.

You may have noticed that your Woo/Tiki meter is back at neutral. Don’t worry, you’re not losing your mind, and it wasn’t just because you played that game of Wooprentice! Volte6 admitted on the boards that he reset them, after making it more difficult to reach the highest levels on the meter. He claims it will be more rewarding after this update, but so far its only harder…

The admins released a truckload of updates today (maybe because they knew I was lacking things to write about? :P ). First off, some changes have been made to the Tiki Audio Player, which is used to listen to the narrated weekly stories. You can now scroll back and forth through the story.

The icons beneath the items in your My Goods section have recieved a well-needed update. There has always been confusion as to how to donate to the Tiki Temple, and now there is an actual donate button. The trash can really is the ‘trash’ now. If you click this button you will never see your item again! The other new icon is linked to a long awaited addition to the site…USER SHOPS!

Only users with a bank account of Corporate or higher (500,000TT) can create a shop and list their items in it. To put an item in your shop, click the icon underneath the desired item. For now, the item is listed under the ‘Shop’ tab of each user’s lookup. According to the news post, something along the lines of a shop search engine is in the works. Enjoy!

Club Edit: MC, Miraye? WTF? TT! :P

TictacTidbit: SHUN THE UNFAITHFUL! :P
